This beauty is a very large (up to 6.5 feet) highly predatory cephalopod native to the Humboldt current - essentially the western coast of Mexico, the US and now even up into British Columbian waters. This creature is another example of animal mood rings - using specialized cells called chromatophores to flash crimson red and ghostly white, turning bright red when agitated or hunting. She usually hangs around the twilight zone during the day, but comes to the surface at night to hunt.

The colorway is a color shifting pink with hints of red - going from soft and delicate to deep berry, with speckles of blue. Stay out of her way and you’ll be safe. Probably.
