The fungi is a small, delicate mushroom known for its rosy-pink to light brown color, found on decaying hardwood trees in temperate forests of North America, Chile, Argentina, Australia, and New Zealand. It is a beautiful but inedible saprotrophic fungus, meaning it decomposes dead wood to recycle nutrients.
